Indian Journal of Oral Sciences is a peer reviewed open access journal, published on behalf of the Medical Educational and Rural Welfare Society which runs the National Dental college and Hospital, Dera Bassi, Punjab. It is published three times in a year. The journal publishes original research papers, clinical studies, case reports and reviews of high quality (systematic and meta-analysis) pertaining to all specialties of dentistry.

Lt. Col. (Retd.) G. S. Sandhu, founder Chairman formed the Medical Educational and Rural Welfare Society in 1996. He is the Patron of Indian Journal of Oral Sciences and has an instrumental role in shaping of the journal. He has strong belief, dedication and determination to serve the sick and render memorable service to society. For imparting dental education and providing much needed dental care to the people, he stared National Dental College and 100 bedded National General Hospital recognized by Central Government and affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab. The college offers BDS course (100 seats) and MDS course (13 seats) in four specialties (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, Periodontics and Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics). The institute has come up with hard work and sincere efforts of the management, highly dedicated team of well experienced faculty members and administrative staff who work round the clock with missionary zeal.
